Switzerland will chair the OSCE in 2014 and Serbia in 2015, the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office Eamon Gilmore announced.
The chairmanship of Switzerland and Serbia was offered at the meeting of the OSCE’s Foreign Ministerial Council in Vilnius in December last year. Russia has put forward the candidacy of Serbia. But the participant countries could not make unanimous decision on this issue. The decision on the chairmanship in 2014 -2015 years was taken in a so-called "silence procedure". No country has expressed its objections to the presidency of Switzerland and Serbia till the end of interim period.
