Azerbaijan is ready to start negotiations on readmission agreement with EU in short term.
Azerbaijan Ministry of Foreign Affairs reports that this statement was made by Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Elmar Mammadyarov at the conference " European Union (EU)- Azerbaijan : new horizons for partnership", held in Belgium under organizational support of European National Party in European Parliament ( EP).
In his speech E. Mammadyarov also noted importance of establishing relations between people and stressed big importance of visa regime simplification with EU.
In his speech E. Mammadyarov paid much attention to the issue of Nagorno Garabagh problem solution and called for EU and EP institution to adopt solutions for conflict settlement based on norms and principles of international right , stressing inadmissibility of double standards in this issue.
The Foreign Minister expressed hope for the resolution adopted by EP in 2010 in connection with withdrawal of troops from Azerbaijan’s occupied territories and recognition of rights of thousands of people for return to native lands , not to be the last document of such kind and thanked the EP for bringing its fair position to international public’s attention.
Within Belgium visit E. Mammadyarov met European National Party’s President W. Martens and held bilateral meetings with head of EP’s Committee on Foreign Relations E. Broc and EP’s Vice President Yatsek Protasevich. In the course of the meetings the sides exchanged opinions on the issues of mutual interest.
