Khojaly massacre to be discussed in OSCE PA
Azerbaijan will raise the genocide of more than 600 civilians in Khojaly at the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly's winter session, a senior MP has said.

The deputy speaker of the Milli Majlis, Bahar Muradova, said that the Azerbaijani delegation often raised the Karabakh problem which was discussed separately at the Pariamentary Assembly's autumn session.

'We have contacted our colleagues to tell them to keep the issue of the Khojaly genocide on the agenda of the winter session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly in Vienna," Muradova said.

"The comment by the OSCE chairman-in-office, Ireland, about keeping the issue of protracted conflicts on the agenda gives us hope that this will be a topic of serious discussion in different OSCE structures," she added.

Muradova said that the 20th anniversary of Azerbaijan’s OSCE accession and the Khojaly tragedy fall this year.

"Unfortunately, over these years we have failed to achieve the resolution of our problems. Our aim is to discuss the Karabakh conflict in all international organizations and we will continue working on this," she said.

During the night of 25-26 February 1992, 613 Azerbaijani civilians fleeing the town of Khojaly were massacred in an attack by Armenian forces, backed by an ex-Soviet regiment. It was the single greatest atrocity of the war over Nagorno-Karabakh.
