Azerbaijan to attain withdrawal of Armenian troops from occupied lands sooner- Azerbaijani FM

Azerbaijan supports continuation of negotiation process on peaceful resolution of Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict.

We will attain the withdrawal of Armenian troops from the occupied lands of Azerbaijan sooner or later, said Azerbaijani FM Elmar Mammadyarov at the joint news conference with his Serbian counterpart Vuk Jeremić.

"It would be better if it happened before. It would promote the overall development of the region and establishment of peace and stability and also create opportunities for joint projects between Azerbaijan and Armenia", Mammadyarov said.

Azerbaijan supports continuation of the negotiation process on the peaceful resolution of Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict over Nagorno Karabakh, Mammadyarov said.

"The presidents of the two countries have met ten times, while the press is discussing the upcoming 11th meeting of the heads of states. But we have no such information by far.

Russian President Dmitriy Medvedev attempted to get any progress through organizing the trilateral meetings of the head of state but no result has ever been achieved. Nonetheless, huge work has been done and definite agreements has been achieved", Mammadyarov said.

"At the first stage, it is necessary to withdraw Armenian troops from the occupied lands. It will create conditions for implementation of joint projects between Azerbaijan and Armenia, as well as regional projects. It will create conditions for restoration of peace and stability in the region and disavowal of militaristic statements", Mammadyarov said.

He said Azerbaijan supports the good neighbor relations with regional states.

"We have good relations with all our neighbors except Armenia. But I am sure that sooner or later we will attain withdrawal of Armenian troops from the occupied Azerbaijani lands. The sooner it happens, the better for all", Mammadyarov said.
