Azerbaijani officials of the special commission to investigate the crash of IL-76 in Afghanistan have decided to return to Baku.
Representatives of the Azerbaijani special committee have decided to return home because of failure of searches in Afghanistan and the lack of proper attention by the Afghan authorities to the issue, third secretary of the Azerbaijani embassy in Pakistan Chingiz Garibli said.
"Our experts were in Afghanistan for two weeks, and all their attempts to reach the crash site of our aircraft were unsuccessful. Despite Azerbaijan has sent three notes of protest to the Afghan government over this time, they still remain unanswered. Considering all these factors, representatives of Azerbaijan's special commission decided to stop work in Afghanistan and return home," Garibli noted.
He also expressed regret over the position of NATO forces in Afghanistan, which also did participate in searches properly.
"Despite all this, the Azerbaijan embassy will continue to work with the Afghan side and NATO forces to find and return the bodies of the crew of the crashed plane to home," Garibli added.
