Residents call police after being woken by a massive gun battle – only to find a film crew shooting scenes for the new series of 24 starring Kiefer Sutherland as Jack Bauer
Police responded to reports of a gun battle in Hertfordshire only to find a film crew shooting scenes for the new series of the US television drama series 24.
At least 20 people called 999 after hearing continuous exchanges of machine-gun fire near their homes in the village of Bricket Wood in the early hours of Monday.
Officers found a film crew for 24: Live Another Day filming gun battles and car crashes in the area at the headquarters of the Building Research Establishment, a 38-acre former government testing site, now privately owned.
Executives at 20th Century Fox, which makes the series, starring Kiefer Sutherland as Jack Bauer, said the filming took place between 2am and 4am. The scenes included a gun battle using automatic weapons and a staged car crash.
Sharon Simpson, 34, who was one of those to call police, said: "I was woken up at 2am by what sounded like the biggest gun battle in history
