Two Turkish policemen have been martyred in an armed attack carried out by Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) militants in southeastern Turkey on Sunday, local sources have confirmed.
The militants targeted a vehicle carrying traffic policemen in Kayapinar district of Diyarbakir province.
The policemen, who were critically injured at the scene, have been pronounced dead at hospital, according to medical sources.
Security forces are conducting a comprehensive operation to catch the assailants, while a vehicle and a Kalashnikov gun, which were used by assailants for the attack, have been seized, according to Diyarbakir Governor Huseyin Aksoy.
