Police arrest four men in raid on alleged Islamist terrorism plot

Just a few days before Remembrance Sunday, police raided several houses across the Thames Valley area from High Wycombe to Hounslow arresting four men ranging in age from 19 to 27.

The Metropolitan Police Counter Terrorism Command conducted these arrests in partnership with the South East Counter Terrorism Uint and MI5 as part of ‘ongoing investigation into Islamist-related terrorism.’

These raids take place only months after the terror threat levels were raised from ‘substantial’ to ‘severe’ meaning a terrorist attack is ‘highly likely’.

A 25 year-old man was arrested in Uxbridge at the same time as a 27-year-old in a car in Southall, a 19-year-old at home in High Wycombe and a 22-year-old in Hounslow.

Firearms officers were present at all four arrests.

It is believed that the four men were planning an attack on British soil with the timing of the arrests raising fears that events commemorating Armistice Day and Remembrance Sunday were the intended targets.
