Alikhan Musayev refutes accusations on him

Gamat Suleymanov told APA that Alikhan Musayev’s recent activities are much closer to those of the Khawarij (the people of Takfeer).

"From his deeds, it can be easily noticed that he, unlike us, supports the brothers heading to Syria for fight and stands against us," said G.Suleymanov.

He added that the students of Islamic University of Madinah who signed the document are against the attendance of Azerbaijani citizens in battles abroad.

"We say going to Syria is a mistake. Even the start of the war in Syria was wrong," he stressed.

Alikhan Musayev rejected all the accusations on him in his response to a "Yeni Müsavat" interviewer’s questions.

"Whatever is rumoured about me is no more than a lie. There’s no need to write something on my name. What I want to say is, may Allah punish them if they slander me," he said.

A.Musayev says during his 10-year activity in Azerbaijan he has neither involved in political issues nor acted against the government, and preached Islam only.

"I have been preaching in Azerbaijan for 10 years. I have written and translated books. My translation of the Holy Koran was printed in Madinah. I have so far given thousands of sermons. Let them pick a single proof out of those books and sermons that I have ever supported the Khavarij. If they get to prove it, I would come out to repent in front of people confessing that I joined the Khawarij, I was wrong. I have invited people only to Islam, the government and the protection of stability in the country. I don’t even have any problem with Shiites, let alone them," said A.Musayev.

Alikhan Musayev also refuted the accusation on him about supporting those fighting in Syria.

"I made no statement about the battle going on in Syria. Perhaps, someone calls me and asks about how to keep his forefinger in prayer or how to place hands. What’s the matter with it? Perhaps, someone calls me up from jail and asks how to fast in a particular time or how to break their fast. I answer their questions. But does it mean that I am concerted with them? It sounds absurd. It’s a slander. I have answered the questions on Shariah only. I receive calls from around the world, from the US, the UK, Turkey, etc. what if the caller is an Armenian? If my voice on the phone is recorded, will I be accused of having ties with an Armenian? How could I know who the caller is?" said Alikhan Musayev.
