Reduction of oil extraction in Azerbaijan is not connected with reduction of oil reserves of the country, chairman of State Statistical Committee Arif Valiyev said.
To him, oil extraction reduced in the country within the past 2 years. Thus, compared to 2011, in 2012 oil extraction dropped 5.3% to 43 mln tonnes.
‘Reduction of oil extraction is not related to reduction of oil reserves in the country. As you know, as a result of oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, large amount of oil was discharged into waters. After this incident, BP-Azerbaijan was tasked to be careful during oil extraction’.
