Princess Diana's Escada tie set to fetch £3,000

A silk Escada tie worn by Diana, Princess of Wales in 1994 is expected to sell for up to £3,000 when it goes under the hammer later this month, SIA reports citing foreign press.

Reeman Dansie auctioneers are selling the silk Escada tie decorated with elephants as part of one of their famed, regular royal auctions, and call it an "important" piece. The tie was worn by the Princess with a matching Escada suit, complete with embroidered elephants on the cuffs and belt, as she visited her newborn nephew, Louis, Viscount Althorp, at St Mary's Hospital in Paddington, London in 1994.

Princess Diana's dresses set to raise over £600,000 at auction.

In February 1995, she gifted it to the daughters of a friend so that their father could wear it to a job interview, wrapping it in gold paper and including a note on monogrammed paper which she signed off with 'lots of love from Diana'. The note, original wrapping paper and red ribbon that she tied around the gift are all included in the lot which is estimated to sell for £2,000 to £3,000.
