Saudi Prince postpones trip due to his father's health

Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince, Salman bin Abdulaziz, has been diagnosed with a lung infection and is receiving antibiotic treatment at the As-Salam Palace in Riyadh. The 88-year-old monarch was admitted to the clinic on May 19 after experiencing high fever and joint pain.

According to a statement from the Saudi Arabian Royal Court, the diagnosis was made after a regular health check-up at the King Faisal Specialist Hospital, SIA reports.

The court did not provide further details about the nature of the infection.

Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince, Mohammed bin Salman, has postponed his planned visit to Japan, scheduled for May 20. The Japanese government announced that the visit was cancelled due to the king's health issues. The Crown Prince was expected to meet with Japanese Emperor Naruhito and Prime Minister Fumio Kishida during his visit.
