Mnatsakanyan: Armenian MoD supplied illegal regime with weapons and ammunition

During the ongoing trial on March 17 at the Baku Military Court, the accused Lyova Mnatsakanyan admitted that decisions on appointments to high positions in the “Karabakh army” were made in Armenia.

Mnatsakanyan said that the appointments to positions in the ranks of lieutenant colonel and higher were made by the chief of the general Staff of the Armenian Armed Forces, the minister of defense and the president of Armenia. “As the commander of the army, I could appoint positions lower than that, including majors, and give ranks up to majors,” he said.

The accused added that the financial issues of the former illegal regime’s “army” were provided by the Armenian Ministry of Defense, and the weapons and ammunition were fully provided by the Armenian Armed Forces. He further said: “We had a supply service. The supply service received them, and then they were provided to each unit. That is, the provision of weapons and ammunition was carried out by the Armenian Ministry of Defense.”

The trial is ongoing for Armenian citizens who face charges of crimes against peace and humanity, war crimes—including orchestrating and conducting an aggressive war, genocide, violations of the laws of war, terrorism, financing terrorism, forcible seizure and retention of power, and numerous other crimes linked to Armenia's military aggression.
