Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko on Wednesday signed amendments to article 10 of Ukraine’s law on the special order of self-governance in certain areas of the Donetsk and Luhansk Regions, the Ukrainian president’s press service reported.
The law, which was adopted by the parliament on Tuesday, is aimed at "normalizing the public and political situation and ensuring proper functioning of local self-government bodies in the territories in question by holding early elections of deputies to regional and city councils; district councils in cities, village and rural councils," the statement reads.
