An overpass in the Brazilian World Cup host city of Belo Horizonte collapsed on Thursday killing at least one person and injuring 10 others, the local fire department told the Anadolu Agency.
The overpass, which was under construction, fell on top of at least four vehicles - a bus, two vans and a car.
The single confirmed fatality was a person in the bus. However, Captain Frederico Pascoal, from the Minas Gerais state fire department, told AA that the number of deaths was likely to rise as emergency crews at the scene had yet to access the car trapped under the collapsed road.
Pascoal also reported that the two vans belong to the company responsible for building the overpass, and that company representatives had said no-one was in the vehicles at the time.
The ten people injured have been transferred to local hospitals, where their condition is not thought to be life-threatening, according to initial information from the fire department.
