Moscow and Russia discuss resolution of Nagorno-Karabakh conflict
Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Grigoriy Karasin and US Assistant Secretary of State Philip Gordon have discussed resolution of the Karabakh conflict in Washington.

The two officials also discussed resolution of the Transnistrian dispute during their meeting on Tuesday, the Russian Foreign Ministry reported.

Russia and the USA are co-chairs, along with France, of the OSCE Minsk Group, the international body mediating a solution to the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh.

Gordon and Karasin discussed issues of mutual interest in the relations of Russia and the US with the South Caucasus, Belarus, Ukraine and Moldova.

During his visit to Washington Karasin held consultations on the problems of Central Asia with Deputy Secretary of State Robert Blake, and also met senior US Undersecretary of State for Political Affairs Wendy Sherman.

The sides exchanged views on the regional situation and the possibilities of Russian-American cooperation in Central Asia, the Foreign Ministry said.
