Azerbaijan State Maritime Administration and Ministry of Internal Affairs issues official statement on ship explosion
Azerbaijan State Maritime Administration issued a statement on the explosion happened in the "Shirvan" cargo ship. The fire occurred on snout of the "Shirvan" cargo ship owned by Azerbaijan State Caspian Sea Shipping Company first caught fire and then exploded during the welding work on board. The fire was put out at 23.06 by the fire protection group Ministry Emergency Situations.
A man was killed and two others were wounded in the blast.The workman Rafig Garayev was killed and his father Yurka Garayev and the engineer Shaig Mirzoyev were wounded.
The case is investigated. The blast could be reportedly caused by gas escape.
