At least 12 people were killed and seven others injured early Tuesday in the collapse of a residential building in eastern Cairo, an Egyptian official said, SIA reports citing the AA.
The six-story building, located in the Matariya neighborhood, collapsed in the early hours of Tuesday, killing 12 people, Gamal Halawa of the Egyptian civil defense authority told The Anadolu Agency.
Seven survivors were pulled from the debris and moved to hospital for treatment, he added.
Building collapses are frequent in Egypt, with officials blaming violations of building regulations, lax oversight and poor maintenance.
