According to initial information, Azerbaijani citizen Fariz fighting within the Al-Nusra Front was killed by Assad's forces. He is allegedly from Sumgayit. Mujahideen posted his photo on the internet.
The photograph of the other Azerbaijani fighter killed in Syria back in December last year has also been released. Azerbaijani fighter Aka Ziko was from Sumgayit as well, according to SIA.
Since the conflict intensified, a great deal of Azerbaijani citizens has started to go to Syria to fight against government forces within various radical alignments. Approximately 100 Azerbaijanis were killed in battle over this period. The mujahideen websites has regulary been posting their photos on the web.
