The Ndola Magistrate’s Court has sentenced a 22-year-old man of Chipulukusu township in Ndola to one month community service for biting a man on the chest and inflicting wounds on him during a fight, SIA reports citing Daily Mail.
Magistrate Ben Akende on Wednesday convicted Nelson Kunda after he pleaded guilty to assaulting Joshua Mwitwa and occasioning him actual bodily harm.
Particulars of the offence are that Kunda on November 2, 2013 in Ndola, assaulted Mr Mwitwa.
Passing the sentence, Mr Akende said he had taken Kunda’s mitigation into consideration but that he inflicted serious wounds on Mr Mwitwa.
"I sentence you to 30 days community service, on each of these days you have to work from 07:00 hours to 12:00 hours," Mr Akende said.
He warned Kunda that he will be apprehended if he fails to report for community service on a daily basis.
Particulars before the court are that on the material day around 22:00 hours, Mr Mwitwa found Kunda quarrelling with a woman outside DS Bar in Chipulukusu.
Mr Mwitwa and other people tried to stop the fight but this angered Kunda and he assaulted Mr Mwitwa. "He fought the complainant and bit him on the chest, which made him sustain injuries," the facts read in part. Kunda was apprehended with the help of the members of the public and taken to the police station. In mitigation, Kunda begged for forgiveness because he looks after his grandmother.
Kunda told the court that he will never patronize bars and cause fights.
