The upcoming COP29 to be held in Baku on November 11-22, will enable the adoption of new decisions regarding financing, Azerbaijani Deputy Foreign Minister and COP29 Lead Negotiator Yalchin Rafiyev said at the Sustainable Development Goals Dialogue on "Voices of the Future: Coordinating Climate Action and Efforts Towards Global Goals" held in Baku, Report informs.
"When these decisions are made and we achieve consensus, we will give impetus to the beginning of a significantly important process. Because, in any case, finance plays a major role in many issues. From the constructive negotiation process to date, we are hopeful that our role in building bridges will be as successful as our role in the Non-Aligned Movement," Rafiyev said at the event organized by the Ministry of Economy and the UN Office in Azerbaijan.
"We have a big and ambitious agenda regarding COP29. Unlike previous host countries, we had very little time. However, due to the commitment taken and dedication to it, along with the highest level of political support, we have developed the relevant potential and managed to ensure the establishment of a successful process among UN members, which we will witness very soon. Undoubtedly, sustainable development goals and climate actions are interconnected," the deputy minister added.
