Iran boosts solar panel production, eyes global market

Iran has joined the group of countries with the capability to manufacture and export solar panels, thanks to the launch of its own 1,800-megawatt production line.

SİA informs via Iranian media outlets that Jamshid Pajuhan, the CEO of an Iranian solar panel manufacturing company, stated, "We aim to develop a complete cycle of solar panel production, from scratch to finished products. Previously, we had a 500-megawatt annual production line, and now we are ready to launch two additional lines, each with a capacity of 900 megawatts. In total, Iran's solar panel production capacity will reach 2,300 megawatts per year."

The primary materials used in the production process include glass, ethylene-vinyl acetate (EVA), and solar cells. Pajuhan emphasized that the increased production capacity is intended to meet the growing demand in the domestic electricity market while also enhancing Iran's export potential.

Iran's main competitors in the international market are Chinese manufacturers, who benefit from low costs due to their high production capacities and complete production chain. Pajuhan outlined Iran's ambitious goal of establishing a complete solar panel production chain with an 8,000-megawatt capacity, focusing on the Makran districts, to achieve their export objectives.

Remarkably, Iran produces state-of-the-art solar panels at 60% lower costs compared to foreign counterparts.
