Kazakhstan signs strategic partnership and cooperation agreement with United Kingdom

Kazakhstan has signed a strategic partnership and cooperation agreement with the United Kingdom.

This was announced by Murat Nurtleu, the head of Kazakhstan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, following a meeting with the British Foreign Secretary, David Cameron, in Astana, SIA reports citing TASS.

"Today, we have signed a strategic partnership and cooperation agreement," stated Nurtleu.

He noted that a new stage in relations between the two countries has opened, emphasizing that the agreement will undoubtedly contribute significantly to strengthening political, trade, and investment relations between the states.

Prior to this, Russian President Vladimir Putin held discussions with Kazakhstan's leader, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

The heads of state discussed matters related to Russia's participation in the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and Kazakhstan's presidency in the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO).
