Russian court sentences man to 3.5 years in prison for burning Quran

The court in the Russian city of Grozny has sentenced Nikita Juravlyov to 3.5 years in prison on charges of burning the Quran, SIA reports.

The individual in question was arrested in 2023 for the act of burning the Quran in front of a mosque in the city of Volgograd.

Subsequently, a criminal case was initiated, and the matter was forwarded to the Investigative Committee of the Chechen Republic within the Russian Federation for further investigation.

During the court proceedings, Nikita Juravlyov expressed remorse for his actions, stating, "I apologize to Muslims for my actions that offended their feelings."
