The first consular consultations between Azerbaijan and Slovakia have been held in Baku, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) told SİA.
According to the report, the Azerbaijani delegation was led by Emil Safarov, Head of the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, while the Slovak delegation was headed by Martin Barton, Director of the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of Slovakia.
The consultations have been attended by employees of the relevant departments of the foreign ministries of both sides, an official from the State Migration Service of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and representatives of the Embassy of the Slovak Republic in the Republic of Azerbaijan as well.
During the consultations, the current state and prospects of consular relations between the two countries, as well as opportunities to expand the bilateral legal framework in this area, were discussed.
Additionally, the expansion of cooperation in providing effective and flexible consular assistance to protect the rights and legal interests of the citizens of both countries was addressed. There was also an exchange of views on the visa policies of the Slovak Republic and the Republic of Azerbaijan.
A number of proposals for the development of cooperation in areas such as migration, labor, social protection, and others between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Slovak Republic were discussed, and agreement was expressed on taking necessary measures to expand cooperation in the relevant areas.
