On 15 May 2026, a scientific-practical symposium titled “Emergency Allergology and Acute Toxico-Allergic Conditions: Modern Approaches to Diagnosis and Treatment” was held.
On 15 May 2026, the scientific-practical symposium on “Emergency Allergology and Acute Toxico-Allergic Conditions: Modern Approaches to Diagnosis and Treatment” was jointly organized by the Educational-Experimental and Training Center of the Medical Service of the State Customs Committee and the Central Customs Hospital, with the support of the Azerbaijan Medical University, the Azerbaijan Society of Toxicologists, and the Society of Resuscitators and Anesthesiologists of Azerbaijan.
At the opening ceremony, Deputy Head of the Medical Service of the State Customs Committee, PhD in Medicine, Associate Professor Ismail Efendiyev delivered a welcoming speech, greeted the participants, and wished success to the symposium. In his remarks, he emphasized that the main goal of the event was to discuss modern methods of diagnosis and treatment in the field of emergency allergology, to exchange advanced medical approaches, and to expand scientific and practical cooperation among specialists. He also highlighted the importance of the symposium in terms of meeting the continuous medical education needs of physicians and residents.
At the official opening held in a hybrid format, the Head of the Department of Allergology and Immunology of the Azerbaijan Medical University, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor, Honored Doctor, and Honored Scientist Lala Allahverdiyeva also spoke. She noted the richness of the scientific program and encouraged participants to be actively involved.
After the official part, the symposium continued with its scientific sessions. Under the moderation of Professor Lala Allahverdiyeva, Head of the Department of Allergology and Immunology of the Azerbaijan Medical University, and PhD in Medicine Nigar Baghirova, Head of the Therapy Department of the Main Military Medical Directorate of the State Security Service, the first panel was held on the topic “Severe Allergic and Toxico-Allergic Syndromes: Diagnosis, Clinical Features and Treatment Algorithms.”
Within this panel, the following presentations were delivered: “Modern Algorithms of Emergency Medical Care in Anaphylaxis” by Narmina Azizova, anesthesiologist-resuscitator at the National Oncology Center; “Severe Acute Toxico-Allergic Conditions: Stevens–Johnson Syndrome and Toxic Epidermal Necrolysis (Lyell’s Syndrome)” by Ismail Efendiyev, PhD, Associate Professor, Deputy Head of the Medical Service of the State Customs Committee; “DRESS Syndrome: Clinical Features, Diagnosis and Treatment” by Aynur Agayeva, Associate Professor of the Department of Allergology and Immunology of the Azerbaijan Medical University; and “Prospects of Allergen-Specific Immunotherapy (ASIT)” by Lala Allahverdiyeva, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor.
The second panel of the symposium on “Allergic and Toxico-Allergic Conditions: Special Cases and Their Therapeutic Strategies” was also held under the moderation of the same specialists. In this panel, Zariфа Mamadova, assistant of the Department of Allergology and Immunology of the Azerbaijan Medical University and pediatrician, presented on “Food-Induced Anaphylaxis in Children and Adults”; Nigar Baghirova, PhD in Medicine, delivered a presentation on “Application of Extracorporeal Detoxification Methods in Toxico-Allergic Syndromes”; Khayal Mammadov, anesthesiologist-resuscitator at the Central Customs Hospital, spoke on “Anaphylactoid Reactions During Administration of Contrast Agents”; Leyman Jafarova, assistant and immunologist of the Department of Allergology and Immunology of the Azerbaijan Medical University, presented “New Approaches to the Treatment of Chronic Spontaneous Urticaria”; and Inara Agabalayeva, physician of the Toxicology Department of the Clinical Toxicology Center and member of the Supervisory Board of the National Anti-Doping Agency of Azerbaijan, presented on “Anaphylaxis Caused by Insect Stings.” After the presentations, the speakers answered participants’ questions.
It is noted that approximately 300 specialists, including allergologists, toxicologists, anesthesiologists-resuscitators, therapists, pediatricians, and emergency medicine physicians, took part in the symposium. The event was accredited in accordance with the “Rules for Accreditation of Scientific and Educational Events in Continuing Medical Education” of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Azerbaijan and was awarded 4 CME credits.
