Moody’s affirms Kapital Bank’s strong financial performance

International credit rating agency Moody’s Ratings has affirmed Kapital Bank’s Ba2 long-term deposit rating, ba3 Baseline Credit Assessment (BCA), and Positive Outlook, once again confirming the bank’s strong financial resilience.

According to Moody’s, the ratings are underpinned by the bank’s strong asset quality, solid profitability, stable funding base with limited reliance on market funding, and high liquidity levels.

Moody’s expects Kapital Bank’s profitability to remain broadly stable over the next 12–18 months. According to the agency, higher yields on the loan portfolio and continued growth in fee and commission income will continue to support the bank’s financial performance. At the same time, slower growth in risk-weighted assets is expected to ease pressure on the bank’s capital position.

Moody’s also noted that Kapital Bank is the second-largest bank in Azerbaijan by total assets and holds significant market shares in both lending and customer deposits. The agency attributes the Positive Outlook on the bank’s long-term deposit rating to the Positive Outlook on Azerbaijan’s sovereign rating, as well as to the favorable operating environment in which the bank operates.

Overall, Moody’s assessment reflects Kapital Bank’s strong financial performance and solid position in the Azerbaijani banking sector.
