An Airbus A330 operated by Turkish Airlines caught fire after landing at Tribhuvan International Airport in Nepal.
According to SİA, citing international media, the aircraft was operating flight TK726 from Istanbul to Kathmandu.
Nepalese authorities said there were 273 passengers and 11 crew members on board. The incident occurred around 06:45 local time, shortly after the aircraft touched down on the runway.
Turkish Airlines Communications Director Yahya Üstün said the landing itself was normal, but smoke was detected near the landing gear. As a precaution, the crew decided to carry out an emergency evacuation after receiving instructions from air traffic control.
The airline stated that no injuries were reported. A replacement aircraft will be dispatched for the return flight, while the damaged plane is undergoing technical inspection.
Head of Nepal"s Civil Aviation Authority Devchandra Lal Karki told BBC Nepali that a preliminary assessment suggests the fire may have been caused by a hydraulic fluid leak in the aircraft"s braking system. Airport fire crews extinguished the blaze within minutes.
