Kazakhstan says AZAL plane crash probe now focused on studying collected materials
The investigation into the crash of the Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) plane is at the stage of studying the collected materials, Kazakh Transport Minister Marat Karabayev said in the Senate, as quoted by Report.
"The first is the collection of evidence, which was completed. Now, the second stage is when the study of the collected materials is underway. We are now at the research stage. As part of the study, our specialists, together with invited foreign specialists and ICAO, visited Baku, Grozny, and Rostov-on-Don. This is what I can tell you now," Karabayev noted.
The materials for the study are in Kazakhstan, the minister added.
The AZAL passenger plane, flying from Baku to Grozny, crashed on December 25, 2024, near the city of Aktau in Kazakhstan. Of the 67 people on board the plane, 38 died, and 29 survived.
According to preliminary data, the plane crashed as a result of a physical and technical external impact in Russian airspace over Grozny.
