Trump says next phase of Iran talks will be easier than the previous one

US President Donald Trump said the next stage of negotiations with Iran would be easier than the previous round, as diplomatic efforts between Washington and Tehran continue.

According to SİA, speaking during a meeting with Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani on the sidelines of the G7 summit in France, Trump said the negotiation process was entering a new phase.

"The process is moving into a second stage, which I believe will be easier," he said.

Addressing the substance of a potential agreement, Trump stressed that preventing Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons remains his administration"s primary objective.

"The only thing that really matters to me is that Iran never has a nuclear weapon, and that is stated clearly and explicitly in the agreement," he said.

Trump added that Iran would face severe consequences if it ever acquired nuclear weapons, saying this was why he had insisted on including a provision prohibiting Tehran from obtaining such weapons.

The US president also rejected claims that he sought regime change in Iran.

"I do not believe in regime change. I have watched regime-change efforts for years, and they never work," Trump said.

He further dismissed reports suggesting possible US investments in Iran as "ridiculous" and emphasized that Washington has no intention of assuming financial obligations toward Tehran.
