EU's Special Representative expects several member states to officially recognize Palestine in May

Josep Borrell, the European Union's (EU) High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, has stated that they anticipate several EU countries to officially recognize Palestine in May.

During his participation at the World Economic Forum held in the capital city of Saudi Arabia, Riyadh, Borrell informed journalists that assessments are being made regarding initiatives to recognize the state of Palestine, SIA reports citing the Spanish news agency EFE.

"The two-state solution should also address the issue of recognizing Palestine because it is not possible to have a two-state solution for a country that is not recognized as a state," he stated.

Several EU countries have expressed their willingness to consider recognizing Palestine, taking into account existing conditions. Borrell expressed hope that these countries would recognize Palestine as a state starting from May.

Ireland, Slovenia, Malta, and Norway have joined Spain's initiative to recognize the state of Palestine.
