Ukrainian President confirms official visit to Turkey to discuss military cooperation

The office of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has officially announced his scheduled visit to Turkey on March 8, where he will meet with his Turkish counterpart, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, SIA reports with reference to foreign media.

Zelensky plans to engage in discussions with representatives of Turkish defense companies and visit a shipyard where corvettes are being constructed for delivery to the Ukrainian Naval Forces.

During talks with the Turkish President, Zelensky intends to discuss his proposed "peace formula," the situation regarding the textile agreement, food stability, navigation safety in the Black Sea, and the repatriation of Ukrainian military prisoners. According to information provided by the Russian President's press service, special attention will be given to joint military-industrial projects between Ukraine and Turkey.

Zelensky will also meet with representatives of local companies involved in arms production in Turkey. Additionally, he expresses his intention to visit shipyards where corvettes are being constructed for the Ukrainian Naval Forces.

This marks Zelensky's most recent visit to Turkey since July 2023 when both parties signed a memorandum of understanding for the joint production of unmanned aerial vehicles. In February 2024, Turkey's Baykar defense company initiated the construction of a factory in Ukraine for the production of Bayraktar TB2 and TB3 drone models.
