Turkish President condemns Israeli attacks on Rafah: 'Remaining silent on this massacre is unacceptable'

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan of Turkiye has spoken out against the Israeli attacks on the Rafah region, stating, "Remaining silent on this massacre carries a heavy burden and consequences."

Erdogan answered journalists' questions on a plane returning from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Egypt, SIA refers to Turkish media.

Erdogan mentioned that during his speech at the World Government Summit held in the UAE, he expressed Turkiye's position on the Gaza crisis and the Palestinian issue, advocating for a continuous peace and offering proposals. He emphasized, "Peace cannot be achieved unless Israel accepts the most fundamental rights of the Palestinian people and the establishment of the state of Palestine within the borders of 1967."

Addressing the Israeli attacks on the Rafah region, Erdogan stated that ensuring the safety of the people there is impossible. He questioned, "After telling civilians 'Go to this area, it's safe,' how can the bombing of that area coincide with human values, the laws of war, international law, and human rights? Humanity must hear this cry soon. The sin of remaining silent on this massacre must not be overlooked."

Highlighting Turkiye's ongoing efforts for permanent peace, Erdogan stated, "The world cannot ignore that the solution lies in the creation of an independent, sovereign, and geographically integrated Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital within the borders of 1967. Turkiye not only defends its Palestinian brothers but also protects human rights, peace, and international law."
