WHO makes statement on 100th day of war in Gaza

The Director General of the World Health Organization (WHO), Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, has expressed his concern over the ongoing attacks on Gaza by Israel, calling it a "tragedy" on the 100th day since it began. He reiterated the urgent need for a ceasefire in the region.

Ghebreyesus took to the "X" social media platform to address the situation in Gaza, SIA reports.

Highlighting the dire situation in Gaza, Ghebreyesus stressed on the "serious humanitarian crisis" caused by the continuous attacks. He pointed out that the majority of hospitals in Gaza are now non-functional due to more than 300 attacks and restricted access to critical care. The lack of access to clean water has also led to the spread of diseases among the population.

Ghebreyesus described the living conditions in Gaza as "hell" and called for an immediate ceasefire.

He also expressed his frustration over the United Nations and the World Health Organization being denied access to provide necessary aid to the affected areas. Additionally, Ghebreyesus requested the release of Israeli prisoners.
