The International Organization for Migration (IOM) has continued the delivery of reintegration assistance to Azerbaijani citizens who voluntarily returned to their countries of origin within the framework of Voluntary Return Assistance and Reintegration (VRA) projects. The main objective of this support is the successful reintegration of voluntary returnees in their country of origin and ensuring that they feel part of the society to which they belong.
According to the organization's Azerbaijani representative office, they currently accept voluntary returnees from Austria, Germany, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Spain, the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Latvia, Lithuania, Hungary, Moldova, Poland, Greece and Switzerland and provide appropriate reintegration assistance, SIA reports.
During the past year, 907 people voluntarily have returned to the country with the support of IOM. Most of the returnees came from Moldova (545), Germany (241 people), the Netherlands (66 people), Poland (15 people) and Austria (14 people).
Meetings were held with the people who voluntarily returned to their country of origin within the framework of the KQYR projects to draw up reintegration plans, as a result of which a total of 501 people benefited from the assistance.
Out of 501 people who were provided reintegration assistance by the IOM Azerbaijan representation, 29 people were helped in cash, 224 people were helped in kind, and the remaining 248 people were helped both in cash and in kind. Voluntary returnees were provided temporary housing, small business establishment, financial and medical assistance, as well as assistance in paying education fees as part of non-cash assistance.
