Iran and US agree on roadmap to reach final deal

The United States and Iran have agreed on a roadmap aimed at reaching a final agreement within 60 days during negotiations held in Switzerland, as stated in a joint declaration issued by the foreign ministries of Qatar and Pakistan, which acted as mediators between the two sides.

According to SİA, the document notes that the meeting took place in a positive and constructive atmosphere and produced encouraging results, including the establishment of a mechanism for subsequent technical negotiations. The parties also agreed to create a high-level committee that will provide political oversight of the mediation process.

"The high-level committee agreed on a roadmap for achieving a final agreement within 60 days, creating the basis for the immediate launch of the next round of technical negotiations. In addition, within the timeframe specified in Paragraph 5 of the Memorandum of Understanding, a communication line has been established between the parties to prevent incidents and misunderstandings and to ensure the safe passage of commercial vessels through the Strait of Hormuz," the statement said.

Furthermore, in order to ensure compliance with the ceasefire in Lebanon, the parties agreed to establish conflict-prevention groups with the support of the mediators.

"The mediators will continue to make every effort to ensure that further negotiations take place in a constructive atmosphere with the aim of reaching a final agreement," the joint statement by the Qatari and Pakistani foreign ministries added.

Earlier, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei reported progress on the issue of unfreezing Iranian assets.

Iran and the United States remotely signed a memorandum on the night of June 18, which envisages bringing an end to the military conflict that began on February 28.

The parties met for negotiations on June 21 in Bürgenstock, Switzerland, but the Iranian delegation soon left the venue in protest against threats by US President Donald Trump to launch strikes on Iran. Later, Al Hadath television reported that discussions between the sides continued through intermediaries.
