Türkiye and Azerbaijan continue to successfully implement major energy projects that were once considered unrealistic for the region, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said in a message addressed to participants of the opening ceremony of Baku Energy Week.
SİA informs via TRT Haber that the message was read by Türkiye's Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Alparslan Bayraktar.
Erdoğan said that recent developments in the Caspian region once again confirmed the correctness of the energy policies pursued by Ankara and Baku.
He highlighted major joint projects such as the Baku–Tbilisi–Ceyhan oil pipeline, the Baku–Tbilisi–Erzurum gas pipeline, and the Trans-Anatolian Natural Gas Pipeline (TANAP), implemented together with Azerbaijan and Georgia.
The president also noted that cooperation between the two countries has deepened further through joint work on the Azeri–Chirag–Gunashli and Shah Deniz projects.
Erdoğan added that the newly launched Iğdır–Nakhchivan gas pipeline has strengthened the energy security of Nakhchivan.
He stressed the strategic importance of energy and electricity interconnections between Türkiye and Azerbaijan and expressed hope for progress in a green electricity trade project involving Türkiye, Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Bulgaria.
He also mentioned that Azerbaijani gas supplies to Syria began last year and said these deliveries contribute to regional stability and development.
Erdoğan noted growing opportunities for exporting Turkmen gas through Türkiye and Azerbaijan and the increasing use of the Baku–Tbilisi–Ceyhan pipeline for transporting Kazakh resources to Western markets.
He concluded that Türkiye remains committed to energy efficiency, renewable energy development, and environmental responsibility, and said that hosting COP31 in Antalya would underline Türkiye"s role in global climate action.
Finally, Erdoğan expressed confidence that Baku Energy Week would further strengthen regional cooperation.
