Bozumbayev: Final report on AZAL plane crash to be ready in few months
The final report on the crash of the Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) plane near Aktau will be ready in a few months, Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Kanat Bozumbayev said, SİA informs referring to Kazakh media.
"The Ministry of Transport is working quite intensively, our specialists have acquired new skills in the context of working with international experts. International experts from different countries are participating in the work. Some of the equipment is still abroad for examination, it will return soon. The analysis stage is being completed, the stage is moving on to preparation of the final report. In a few months, there will be a final report on the investigation of the plane crash near Aktau," he noted.
He added that law enforcement agencies are conducting an explosive examination.
"The only question related to AZAL, I would not like to politicize it, is how it was damaged. (...) The fragments of external objects were in the fuselage, were completely removed by the investigative task force and sent by the Prosecutor General's Office for explosive and forensic examination. We are waiting for their completion. (...) We know when the plane was damaged, but we do not know how it was damaged. To answer this question, we need the results of these examinations from law enforcement agencies," Bozumbayev said.
The deputy prime minister noted that it is difficult to say when exactly these examinations will be ready. "Unfortunately, there are no such weapons in Kazakhstan. Therefore, the Prosecutor General's Office has sent the relevant requests and demands to the relevant states," he emphasized.
AZAL passenger plane flying from Baku to Grozny crashed on December 25 near the city of Aktau in Kazakhstan. Of the 67 people on board, 38 died and 29 survived.
According to preliminary data, the plane crashed as a result of physical and technical external interference that occurred in Russian airspace over Grozny.
