First solar eclipse of 2023 to occur on April 20

The first solar eclipse of 2023 will occur on April 20, 2023, Baku State University's Faculty of Physics' Department of Astrophysics told SİA.

This eclipse will be a hybrid solar eclipse. Due to the curvature of the Earth, an annular or total solar eclipse is witnessed in a hybrid solar eclipse, depending on the observer's position along the center eclipse trajectory.

Most hybrid eclipses begin as an annular, progress to a total eclipse, and then return to an annular condition.

The eclipse will begin at 05:34:22 Baku time on April 20 and end at 10:59:18.

The eclipse will last 5 hours and 25 minutes. The maximum of the eclipse will be at 08:16:49.

The total eclipse will begin at 06:36:56 and end at 09:56:36.

The total eclipse will last 3 hours 19 minutes 40 seconds. The eclipse will be visible in Southeast Asia, Australia, the Pacific Ocean, the Indian Ocean, and Antarctica. The eclipse will not be seen on Azerbaijani territory.

The second solar eclipse of 2023 will occur on October 14.
