The Azerbaijani Ministry of Energy signed a Memorandum of Understanding in the field of energy storage with Chinese companies China Southern Power Grid International (Hong Kong) Co. and Powerchina Huadong Engineering Corporation Limited on the sidelines of COP29, SİA informs, citing the ministry.
The document envisages cooperation in areas such as pumped hydroelectric storage (PHS), battery energy storage systems (BESS), high voltage direct current (HVDC) transmission systems, and other technologies for alternative energy transmission, distribution, and network digitalization.
According to the memorandum, the parties plan to establish a Management Committee and a Working Group to ensure the effectiveness of implemented activities, strengthen coordination, and control processes.
Minister of Energy Parviz Shahbazov held a meeting with representatives of China Southern Power Grid International (Hong Kong) Co. and Powerchina Huadong Engineering Corporation Limited, to discuss prospects for cooperation in renewable energy, energy storage technologies, and other areas.
