"In the current situation on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, the matter is not only about provoking Azerbaijan by the Armenian side, but also about disrupting the platform, which was formulated by the heads of Azerbaijan, Russia, Turkey and which was confirmed by the Prime Minister of Armenia," Russian political scientist, journalist, TV presenter and public figure Maxim Shevchenko told Report's Russian bureau.
He said the forces inside Armenia that orchestrate deliberate provocations deal a blow to the authority and personality of Russian President Vladimir Putin, the guarantor of the peace agreement.
"Russia, responsible for Armenia, cannot control Yerevan's compliance with treaties that will lead to peace between peoples. Inside the Armenian society, provocateurs deliberately act to undermine Vladimir Putin's authority," Shevchenko noted.
The political scientist added that any statements leading to the development of the peace process are undoubtedly positive and necessary for the further cooperation of the countries: "I hope that the adequate forces will triumph in their society. The Armenian people have been turned into the war meat so that their oligarchs could play their games and make money from it. National interests must prevail over commercial and manipulative ways of ruling people. We must work on the future, regardless of the past. If Armenia finds peace with its neighbors and moves from confrontation to cooperation, then the Armenian people will start living normally."
Shevchenko also called on Azerbaijan to continue working on the peace process: "The people of Azerbaijan are kind, brave, and strong. They must continue to promote the building of peaceful relations with Armenia. No one is as interested in peace within Armenia as Azerbaijan."
On the night of July 15, the positions of the Azerbaijan Army in the vicinity of the city of Shusha came under fire from small arms. The fire was launched by illegal Armenian detachments located in Azerbaijani territories, where Russian peacekeepers are temporarily stationed.
