Senior U.S. officials join Gaza negotiations as Hamas expresses hope

Hamas and Egypt signaled renewed optimism on Wednesday as top U.S. officials entered negotiations aimed at resolving the conflict in Gaza, SİA reports citing American media.

“A sense of optimism exists among all parties,” the group said after submitting a list of Palestinian prisoners to be released in exchange for Israeli hostages under the U.S.-led plan. The release of those still detained in Gaza, along with nearly two thousand Palestinian prisoners, is a key element of the Trump administration’s proposal.

Israeli authorities have yet to respond to Hamas’s statement.

Egyptian President Abdel Fatah El-Sisi, hosting the talks at the Sharm el-Sheikh resort, described the feedback he had received as “very encouraging.”

The talks, now in their third day, saw the arrival of President Donald Trump’s special envoy Steve Witkoff, his son-in-law Jared Kushner, and Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed Abdulrahman Al Thani. Their participation coincides with the second anniversary of the October 7 attacks and the resulting Gaza conflict.
