China calls on other countries not to interfere in its trade relations with Russia
The press secretary of the Chinese Foreign Ministry commented on the statement of the US President's special representative Keith Kellogg regarding China's economic support for Russia.
China considers economic cooperation between China and Russia to be legal and not directed against any third party, therefore it calls on other countries not to interfere in cooperation between Chinese and Russian companies. This was stated at a briefing by the representative of the Chinese Foreign Ministry Lin Jian, Ukrinform reports.
The representative of the Chinese Foreign Ministry commented on the statement of the US President's special representative Keith Kellogg, who stated that if China stopped supporting Russia, primarily economically, then the war unleashed by Moscow against Ukraine would very quickly end.
"Most countries in the world, including the United States and European countries, trade with Russia. Normal exchanges and cooperation between Chinese and Russian companies comply with World Trade Organization rules and market principles. They are not directed against any third party and should not be subject to outside interference or influence," Lin said.
According to him, China's position on the "Ukrainian crisis" (as the PRC officially calls Russia's aggressive war in Ukraine - ed.) is consistent and very clear.
"Since the first day of the crisis, China has maintained an objective and fair position and promoted peaceful negotiations. We believe that only dialogue and negotiations are the only viable way to resolve the crisis," the diplomat noted.
He also commented on the US call for the G7 and NATO countries to impose tariffs on China for importing Russian oil in order to push Beijing to more actively participate in international efforts to end the Russian-Ukrainian war.
"China's normal trade, economic and energy cooperation with all countries in the world, including Russia, is legitimate and does not deserve criticism," Lin said.
A spokesman for the Chinese Foreign Ministry called Washington's calls for anti-Chinese sanctions an example of intimidation and economic coercion, to which Beijing will respond with countermeasures.
"If China's legitimate rights and interests are harmed, China will definitely resort to decisive countermeasures and will unwaveringly protect its sovereignty, security and development interests," he stressed.
It was previously reported that Russia's precious metal exports to China doubled in the first half of 2025.
