Pakistan and Azerbaijan agree to establish ASAN service center in Islamabad
On September 10, Pakistan and Azerbaijan reached an agreement to create an ASAN service center in Islamabad, SİA informs via Pakistani media.
The center will operate on a one-stop-shop principle aimed at simplifying citizen services and will be part of broader cooperation in governance and digital reforms.
According to a statement from the Office of the Prime Minister of Pakistan, the decision followed Shehbaz Sharif"s recent visit to Baku, during which he visited one of Azerbaijan's ASAN service centers.
Inspired by the Azerbaijani model, the prime minister instructed relevant agencies to implement the project with technical support from Azerbaijan.
"This is a revolutionary step in providing public services," Shehbaz Sharif said during a meeting with Ülvi Mehdiyev, Chairman of ASAN service.
The Islamabad center will consolidate many state services under one roof, offering integrated services such as ID issuance, business support, and more. Officials noted that the initiative will reduce bureaucracy and increase transparency.
Sharif emphasized that all appointments at the new center will be conducted through transparent procedures. He also ordered the inclusion of a planned Business Support Center within the structure, allowing citizens and entrepreneurs to access unified services.
"The center will support our transition to a cashless economy and can serve as a model for other cities," the prime minister added, expressing gratitude to the Azerbaijani government for its technical assistance.
During the visit, an agreement was signed between ASAN service and Pakistan's Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication. Both sides described the step as significant for deepening bilateral relations through governance and public sector innovations.
The signing ceremony was attended by Pakistan's Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Planning and Development Minister Ahsan Iqbal, Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima, and other senior officials.
