US military sank a ship from Venezuela

Trump said that the ship was carrying drugs. The Pentagon confirmed the fact of a "targeted strike on a ship with drugs".

On Tuesday, September 2, the US military attacked a ship from Venezuela in the Caribbean Sea that was carrying drugs. This was announced by US President Donald Trump on the social network Truth Social

"We just, literally a few minutes ago, hit a boat with drugs, and there were a lot of drugs on it. And this is not the last. Drugs have been coming into our country for a long time ... These are from Venezuela," Trump wrote.

According to him, the strike was carried out on a ship that was acting on behalf of the recognized narco-terrorist organization Tren de Aragua (TDA). Trump reported that 11 militants were eliminated as a result of the attack, while not a single American soldier was hurt.

Trump stressed that the strike should be a warning to anyone even thinking about trying to smuggle drugs into the United States.

A Pentagon spokesman confirmed the "targeted strike on a drug-laden vessel," according to Reuters, but declined to provide details about the type of drugs or means of attack. Venezuela's Communications Ministry did not provide any comment.

Meanwhile, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio said the boat had left Venezuela and was struck in the southern Caribbean. He called the attack a "lethal strike."

There are currently seven U.S. warships and one fast-attack nuclear submarine in the region, with more than 4,500 sailors and Marines. Among them are the USS San Antonio, USS Iwo Jima, and USS Fort Lauderdale, which can carry helicopters and launch Tomahawk cruise missiles. American P-8 reconnaissance aircraft are also in the sky, collecting data while flying over international waters.

Recall that in August, self-proclaimed Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro announced the mobilization of militias in response to the presence of American warships off the coast of Venezuela.

Before this, Washington stated that the United States intends to take all necessary measures to combat drug trafficking and bring to justice those involved in drug-related crimes. In addition, the American government doubled the reward for information about Maduro, who is not recognized there as the legitimate president of Venezuela.
