Kyrgyzstan, as part of the border delimitation with Tajikistan, has exchanged areas where conflict situations periodically arose, Kyrgyz leader Sadyr Japarov said in an interview with the Kabar news agency, SİA informs.
"Both sides were not guided by strategic goals when exchanging lands. We exchanged only those areas where conflicts constantly arose," he said, commenting on the document signed with Tajikistan on border delimitation on February 21.
He noted that the land areas that the countries exchanged are either enclaves or are located in a checkerboard pattern on the border. As the president of Kyrgyzstan assured, the border issue with Tajikistan has been 'resolved forever.'
"That's it, the end has been set, the interests of both sides have been taken into account. There is still much to say about the border. But it's not time yet. Let it all end, and then we'll say. Then history will judge us. I am sure that it will give us an 'excellent' grade," Sadyr Japarov emphasized.
