The Azerbaijan-Pakistan Intergovernmental Commission (IGC) meeting will be held on December 24-25 in Islamabad, said Pakistan's Minister for Privatization and Investment Abdul Aleem Khan, Report informs via Pakistani media.
Aleem Khan chaired a meeting on November 28 to evaluate progress on investment and privatization issues, which was also attended by Pakistan's Ambassador to Azerbaijan Qasim Mohiuddin via video link.
"The ambassador reported that Azerbaijan is interested in investing in Pakistan under the G2G model and participating in the privatization of state enterprises. He added that Azerbaijan is considering investments in the construction of two six-lane highways M6 (Sukkur-Hyderabad) and M9 (Karachi-Hyderabad) in Pakistan.
Aleem Khan, in turn, asked the ambassador to complete preparatory work before the two-day meeting of the joint Pakistan-Azerbaijan commission, which begins on December 24," reads the report.
The minister also noted that Pakistan intends to develop cooperation with Azerbaijan and Central Asian countries through coordinated measures in privatization, investment, and communications, for which he plans separate meetings with the ambassadors of Türkiye, Azerbaijan, and Uzbekistan.
Aleem Khan stated that in terms of trade, Azerbaijan and Central Asian countries "could become Pakistan's gateway to Eastern Europe," for which all efforts must be made. The previous meeting of the Azerbaijan-Pakistan intergovernmental commission was held on December 2, 2021, in Baku.
