The Alekseyevsky District Court in Russia’s Belgorod region has approved the conditional release of mixed martial artist Ivan Emelianenko, the younger brother of renowned fighter Fedor Emelianenko, SİA reports citing Russian media.
Law enforcement sources told TASS that the petition for release was granted. “He has been released on parole,” officials said.
Emelianenko, 37, had been sentenced in December 2024 to one and a half years in prison. According to case details, the fighter intervened to defend a woman, which escalated into a verbal confrontation and a physical altercation during which he struck his opponent several times. The victim sustained serious injuries, recorded the incident, and filed a complaint with the police.
Authorities noted that during his time in the penal colony, Emelianenko demonstrated positive behavior: he worked diligently and attended church services. The court took these circumstances into account when ruling on his early release.
Ivan Emelianenko is the younger brother of fighters Alexander and Fedor Emelianenko. Over the course of his career, he has competed in both mixed martial arts (MMA) and boxing.
