As part of a project implemented by the European Union (EU), the Women4Cyber conference will be held in Baku, Azerbaijan, in October, SİA reports.
The initiative focuses on three key goals: strengthening governance in Eastern Partnership countries, particularly in Azerbaijan and Moldova; contributing to the development of frameworks for protecting critical infrastructure; and enhancing operational capacity and resilience.
Elsa Neeme, senior cybersecurity expert at the e-Governance Academy Foundation of Estonia and head of the project Strengthening Cyber Resilience in the Eastern Partnership Countries, spoke about the plans during the sixth Summit of Government Information Security Leaders.
“As the cybersecurity landscape becomes increasingly complex and interconnected, our common mission is clear, to strengthen resilience, build trust, and create expert communities capable of responding effectively to emerging challenges both nationally and across borders. These are not just technical outcomes. In Azerbaijan, we intend to contribute to initiatives such as major CISO forums. Secondly, as mentioned, we are very proud that we will return in October to contribute to the critical infrastructure protection challenge and cyber warfare simulation exercises to be held in 2025. Thirdly, we are also focusing on vulnerable target groups such as women. In this regard, I am pleased to emphasize that on October 11, the Women4Cyber conference will take place,” Neeme stated.
She added that the project will also contribute to training in areas such as risk assessment, incident management, cybersecurity frameworks, practical applications, and procedures of national and sectoral Computer Security Incident Response Teams (CSIRTs). “Of course, we also intend to support the development of sectoral CSIRT capabilities. We are fully committed to contributing to initiatives that raise awareness among children as well,” she noted.
Deputy Chief of the State Service of Special Communication and Information Security, Allahveren Ismayilov, thanked the Estonian e-Governance Academy Foundation for its support through the EU project on strengthening cyber resilience in Eastern Partnership countries. “As a result of cooperation with the foundation, joint efforts will continue in exchanging expertise, applying advanced approaches, and building institutional capacity in cybersecurity. Ahead of us lies extensive work. The nature of threats is changing, targets are expanding, but the goal remains the same, the reliable protection of our state information resources,” Ismayilov emphasized.
