Grigoryan: Meeting of the Azerbaijan-Armenia delimitation commission is scheduled for the second half of August

"Armenia recognizes the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan and recognizes it at least because it is included in our legislation. We have repeatedly said that Armenia and Azerbaijan recognized each other's territorial integrity and the inviolability of their borders with the agreement on the establishment of the CIS signed in 1991 and later ratified. This is part of the current legislation of both Armenia and Azerbaijan," the Secretary of the Security Council of Armenia, Armen Grigoryan said in an interview with "Armenpress", SİA reports.

He said that the principle of territorial integrity should be expressed at the bilateral level as well: "As we said, there is nothing unacceptable for us in such a perspective. Armenia, yes, Azerbaijan has no territorial claims."

Grigoryan said that the meeting of the delimitation and border security commission was scheduled for the second half of August at the proposal of the Azerbaijani side: "The Armenian side was ready for the second meeting to be held in June and July. We have repeatedly declared our readiness to open regional communications. Recently, in 2021 The package of proposals that we delivered through diplomatic channels in December 2018 was published on the Internet and is still valid today. We have made several other proposals and we are very interested in opening regional communications, which is part of the "Armenian Junction" project. Of course, the concrete east-west part of the project route can be discussed, we have never emphasized the possibility of only one option and we must find the most efficient route, because the functionality and attractiveness of this route is the main issue. The "Armenia Junction" project depends on it. We, together with the Deputy Prime Ministers of Russia, Armenia and Azerbaijan We see some progress in the tripartite working group on communications led by Dr. and are ready to continue in this spirit."

"Is it possible to sign a peace treaty with Azerbaijan without a final settlement of the Karabakh issue?" in response to the question, the Armenian official said: "There is such an idea. But at the moment it is too early to talk about such a decision."

He added: "The culmination of the peace agenda is, of course, the signing of the peace agreement with Azerbaijan. You know that Azerbaijan presented a five-point package in this regard, and the Republic of Armenia declared that there is nothing unacceptable for us in these points."

A. Grigoryan noted that "We have repeatedly stated that the Karabakh issue is not a territorial issue for us." According to him, "the security and rights of Karabakh Armenians are the main thing": "In one of his speeches at the National Assembly, Prime Minister Pashinyan expressed the idea of separating the Karabakh issue from Armenia-Azerbaijani relations. Now we must actively discuss this option and decide how to proceed.

There is an international guarantee for the security of Karabakh Armenians, which is the presence of peacekeeping troops of the Russian Federation there. We should work on further improvement of this guarantee, but the demilitarization of the Karabakh problem is an important idea."
